Don't know if you have Pinterest. It's quite a neat little site. To put all of your favorite things in albums that you see on the web. It's stuff you like and would like to see later. I am using this as a test to put a picture on pinterest as I don't really know how to. And to show my friends. This is my Mom. She is wearing some great earrings by Wendy Baker. Purple Pizazz My entry in the sari ribbon blog hop

I worked on my sari hop item when B'Sue first posted about it. Good thing as I would never have got it done. I haven't been doing any creating at all due to my arms really hurting again. So glad I did this quite a while ago. I did start out with a braided sari ribbon necklace that could also be converted into a bracelet. It was supposed to have charms on it but the charms were all packed away and I never found them. So when I bought a muse box from B'Sue she wrapped it with some gold cord and also some really pretty purple sari. She also had this triangular shaped gunmetal finding in there. So I wrapped the cuff in that gorgeous purple. The yellow in the bracelet was a knot in the fabric. Then I attached the finding in the center and put a brass ox flower over that and then glued a green rhinestone in that. I really like that purple! I hope you do too.

Our Road Trip

One day this past week I got out of work early. I went home intending to get a bunch of housework done, supper started etc etc. Archie talked me in to talking a little road trip back in the Loess Hills. With the flood looming in June they moved our post office to another town which is 12 or so miles away and is in the Loess Hills. So we went to get our mail in Moorhead and then took some detours through the hills on the way home. I will have to find a link about the Loess Hills of Iowa but there are only two places like it in the world. Here and in China. The hills were made by Glaciers. They used to be covered with prarie grass but through the years have been overcome with sumac, cedar and oak. Sometimes they have a burnoff in certain areas to put the land back to the natural state. I took some pictures of a Danish Church and old Lightening struck tree. Then we went to the overlook which is a wood ramp and huge area on top of the hill which looks out over the area. We could see Blencoe from up there. I hope you enjoy my pictures.

A walk with nature

My best friend and I went for a walk after work. We went to a place called stone park. It's in the hills with wildlife abounding. We always have a good time on our walks. Here's a butterfly on a thistle.
We are trying to lose weight. Wish us luck.

The ash tree is gone now.

The man came over with a bucket and cut down the ash tree this weekend. I was sad about it as it gave good shade in the mornings. It was damaged from that car that crashed into the truck and tree that early morning this year. (You can see the pictures of that on one of my earlier blogs.) I wonder how old the tree was? It will be missed. It really makes me sad to see a tree cut down or die. In the flooded areas here the trees have all changed color. I wonder if they will survive. Some have already fell down because of the saturated ground underneath them.

Flooding danger over?

The end of the months and they say they're lowering outputs at the dams. Hoping that the flooding danger will be over and we can get our lives back to normal.

Flood of 2011

Well today is June 15th and water is up some more. It's been depressing here. Some of my friends have been flooded out. Local farmers have lost their crops. We're ready in Blencoe. We have a levee around the town and most things are sandbagged.

We Had Just Got To Bed

the other night and heard two loud bangs. It was 1:30 in the morning in small town Iowa so you knew something had happened. Turned out there had been a high speed chase and the man they were chasing ended up in our front yard hitting B/F's truck and hitting a tree in the front yard. The guy that hit the truck only had a broken nose so we were thankful for that. The cops called an ambulance and a tow truck. This was a little too much excitement for us!
